Season Review - Saturday 1st XI

A successful season saw the Saturday 1st XI secure promotion to Division 2, with only poor weather on the final day denying the team from being crowned league champions. Excellent team performances littered the season, with every member contributing to the success. Four batsmen averaged over 40, including two who averaged more than 60, along with numerous useful contributions from the middle order. The team finally shook off the tag of struggling to chase totals, with several successful run chases. Bowling was very much a team effort, with every bowler contributing a crucial spell at various points during the season. Despite the tinge of disappointment at not winning the league, we can look forward to next season, playing at a higher standard, on better pitches, confident that we have a team capable of competing and challenging for honours again.

Season Review - Saturday 2nd XI

After an initial promising start to the season, the seconds suffered with a lack of depth in the bowling department, and struggled through the mid-season hot weather against some fierce hitting from some of the opposition. However, praise must be given to all the lads who stuck at it, battled back and picked up some good points towards the seasons end when we went on a five game unbeaten run. There were some excellent performances from the batsmen througout the season, several of whom ended the season on very good averages, and along with a few new faces from a successful recruitment drive, we can look forward to next season with considerable optimism.

Season Review - Sunday 1st XI

After winning two successive championships, perhaps it was inevitable the Sunday side would find tougher opposition in Division 2, and we  got off to a shaky start with the first four fixtures yielding two massive defeats and two games abandoned because of the weather. As the season progressed both performances and results improved significantly and we avoided relegation in a tense last game. We were helped by being able to field stronger teams in the second half of the season once some of the younger players exam commitments were over, which greatly improved our bowling attack.  Despite our low league position we actually won as many games - six- as we lost in the league. The team showed great spirit and good humour throughout a thoroughly enjoyable season.

Season Review - Sunday 2nd XI

The team have had a productive season, with the experience gained by the juniors hopefully standing them in good stead for the future. The mixture of juniors and seniors was well-worked, with the team finishing mid-table in Division 6. The team never let themselves down, and showed great spirit throughout, with wins gained due to hard work and commitment shown by all. A big congratulations to those who took part.
